Introducing In Fine Order Real Estate Staging Services

Did you know that a home that is well-prepared is likely to sell more quickly, and for top dollar? In Fine Order Real Estate Staging Services knows first hand just how important home staging is. They’ve been working full force in the industry since 2006 and have a team of professional and experienced staff to help get the job done. There’s never a dull moment, from what I’ve heard, so let’s get to the post and learn more about this fantastic business that Shannon Weber has created….

Describe your business: In Fine Order Staging Services consists of a team of professional and experienced stagers who have been operating in Saskatoon since 2006. We provide a range of services, including staging and decor consultations, occupied home staging and vacant home staging. In addition, we provide builders, flippers and homeowners with assistance in the selection of interior and exterior finishes.

What drives you to do what you do? What motivates you? At In Fine Order, we are motivated by our shared goal with our clients – a home that is well-prepared for the market so that it can sell more quickly and for top dollar. I am also motivated by my team. Our stagers are such great and skilled people who literally make my business possible. Further, I am motivated by partnerships – with our clients, realtor friends, retail and business partners. When people work together, everyone benefits. Team work makes the dream work!

What has surprised you most when owning your own business? What surprised me the most is how many unique and interesting homes there are in our city. It’s an honour to be welcomed into these properties and to hear the stories that helped create the spaces.

What was it like when you first started? Work! Starting my business at a time when I had young children required long hours before and after they were asleep so that I could try to create some balance between family and work life.

What is something people don’t know about your business? Most people don’t know that staging wasn’t my first entrepreneurial experience. Before IFO was born, I lived on an acreage and raised alpacas. This was, and remains, a family venture and it’s taught me a lot about being adventurous and trying new things.

What would your customers say they love most about doing business with you? Haha! I’m not sure what they would say. I hope that they would say that they appreciate doing business with someone that they trust and believe is invested in helping them succeed. I also hope that they would appreciate all the laughs as much as I do!

What are some odd requests you’ve had from customers/clients? I think we’ve had more crazy experiences than odd requests. What many people don’t realize is that staging is often 90% problem solving and 10% decor. Things like, how do we get into the house when the stairs haven’t been built yet? How do we hang the artwork when we left the hammer at the previous house (will this kitchen knife we found on the lawn work to replace our hammer? Answer: of course!)? Does anyone have a spare pair of socks – I just stepped in dog pee. I fell on a driveway and needed stitches before returning to finish the staging job. A marble table fell on my hand and bent my wedding band so badly that I required the assistance of a firefighter. Can someone please go buy some mouse poison? And a million more…

How do you motivate and encourage each other? Yourself? or Staff? As a team, we cheer each other on, express our caring and make sure we have lots of laughs. Everyone is respected for their unique skills and abilities and everyone contributes.

Where do you see your business in the next years? We have been growing from the beginning and my hope is that this will continue. I’m really excited to be working with builders to select finishes for new builds and would like to continue to expand this service. I’m also excited to continue to partner with my niece, @artbyhaileyweber, and support the expansion of her business selling her paintings.

What are your greatest challenges? The changing economy that slows homes sales. And having enough time to do all that I want to do.

What is something most people don’t know about you? Most people don’t know that IFO is my side gig. I’ve been employed at the U of S for the past 25 years.

What do you love most about Saskatoon? We live in a beautiful city. I love that Saskatoon is small enough for a sense of community and big enough for interesting events and opportunities.

Why do you think it is important for people to support local? Supporting local is a core value at IFO. We love our partnerships with local retailers and makers. When we work together and support each other, great things are possible. Everyone wins.

What are your favorite restaurants? I’m not a big restaurant goer. I do enjoy the patio at Earl’s with my friends in the summer!

What are your favorite things to do locally? I enjoy most of the things that other residents enjoy – concerts, Taste of Saskatchewan, Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan, Folkfest…and I love spending time at my cabin that is only an hour away.
